My name is Emilio Pesce, and I love making bread. Altamura bread has a very ancient history. The first loaves were made over 800 years ago. Families would bring their dough to the municipal ovens, where the whole community baked together.
I was born near the Amalfi Coast, and for the first two years of my life I was lovingly cared for by my Nonna Angela. From her, I learned how important it is to cook with love. The traditional recipes of Southern Italy live in my heart, with her always by my side. In 1990, I moved with my parents to Torino, a beautiful city at the foot of the Italian Alps, where Southern warmth meets Northern culture. Torino was also Italy’s first capital. There live my mother, father, and brother.
In 2014, I moved to my big dream: America. My dream is to one day live closer to both worlds - to enjoy a city full of charm and history, to share life with my American family and my Italian family.
